The law office of Lavender Greenberg has implemented new estate planning signing procedures to ensure the safety of our clients and staff. Some of the safety measures in place include the following:

  1. Avoiding close contact â€“ The CDC recommends individuals to remain 6 feet apart from people who do not live in the same household. At Lavender Greenberg, the entire estate planning signing process is currently being held outdoors due to the pandemic. The clients, as well as the two staff members serving as witnesses, are asked to remain in their cars to ensure that everyone stays socially distant. With the car windows lowered, the clients and two witnesses can see each other sign the testamentary documents in front of the attorney, who acts as the notary. All of the documents are carefully tabbed while the estate planning attorney uses a checklist to guide clients through the signing process without the need to hover over their shoulders.
  2. Cover mouth and nose with a mask â€“In addition to social distancing, all parties are asked to cover their mouths and noses with a face-covering at all times.
  3. Clean and disinfect frequently touched surfaces â€“ Another way to help stop the spread of the virus is to regularly clean and disinfect touched surfaces. Before every signing appointment, the pens and clipboards are thoroughly disinfected before they are handed to the client and witnesses. As an added precaution, the attorney continuously sanitizes her hands when handing documents between clients and witnesses for their signatures.

As Lavender Greenberg continues to help clients create their estate plans, these new procedures allow clients to execute their estate plans with peace of mind. If you are interested in creating an estate plan, Lavender Greenberg can help.
